AWA TOPO CHATS (A2 Poster Size)

These AWA TOPO posters are geocultural charts of 5 main river catchments in Ngāti Porou. They were researched and created by Campbell Ngata, a Gisborne-based Maths teacher, with the assistance of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. The AWA TOPO charts combine Maths concepts with taha Māori to create a resource aimed at developing mātauranga awa amongst uri of Ngāti Porou - he does this by simply displaying the main connections from MAUNGA to MOANA, and preserving names our TIPUNA gifted to spark some interest and conversation.
